Bulk upload multiple product images quickly to Shopify

The thought of uploading individual product images into your Shopify store seems like a very time-consuming activity. So, I’m sure you’re wondering if there is an easier and quicker way to bulk upload product images.

The answer is yes. Below we provide two methods that allow you to bulk upload products into your Shopify store.

bulk upload images

Method 1 – using Shopify admin

Uploading images directly through the Shopify admin means you can achieve a bulk upload quickly and efficiently. Follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to your Shopify admin
  2. Select Settings > Files
  3. Select Upload files in the top right corner

This will allow you to upload the image files directly from your device to your Shopify admin. You can directly use the images you’ve already uploaded to set up new products in your Shopify store.

Method 2 – CSV file

The second method you can look at is uploading a CSV file. There is a particular format that you must follow; Shopify’s guide on uploading a product CSV is great to help with this and is very informative.

You must ensure that your images are first uploaded to a publicly accessible URL. Cloud services such as Google Drive and DropBox are places in which you can store your images and create individual URLs.

When you upload your CSV into your Shopify store, the image URLs will pull the images into your store.

If you need to import multiple images per product, this will require a CSV with the full product as usual and then additional lines with the handle for each image. A great tip is to setup one manually first and then export that product. You will then have a CSV template to use.
