Privy is a Shopify app that helps merchants with Email Marketing, Exit Popups, Free Shipping Bar, Abandoned Carts, Spinwheels and other forms of lead generation. Privy can then help you connect these leads you have collected (Potential customers) to your email marketing platform such as Klaviyo, MailerLite and Mailchimp.

Depending on which plan you have, you can also send email directly from within Privy which may be a better solution for a merchant just starting out or a merchant without an email marketing app.

How to use Privy

Privy should essentially form part of your lead generation for your Shopify store. Lead generation is essentially the collection of potential customer details that you can eventually convert into a customer.

With most Ecommerce stores, upto 97% traffic on average will visit your store and leave without purchase. That means on average only 3 out of every 100 customers will complete the checkout and become a customer. Not only does this mean you need a large amount of traffic and high quality traffic, you also need to be collecting as much of that traffics contact details as possible. Providing you abide by local data laws in your country and customers have consented to being marketed to, you can use Privy to collect and covert this traffic into sales.

Popups to new customers, Spinwheels and exit intent forms are all methods of collecting these details. The goal is to at the very least collect details from your traffic. An email address or phone number is all you need to send an incentivising discount to capture a potential sale.

With this method, you can start to increase your stores conversion rate. This could mean converting anything up to 10% of your stores traffic or 1 in every 10 customers. This is considered a high conversion rate and is a great target to aim for.
