How to simply remove ‘powered by Shopify’ in 2 easy methods

If you’re setting up your new Shopify store, you probably will want to remove the powered by Shopify text or link in the footer of your store.

When you create a store for the first time, the text is shown in the footer of the website to let the general public know that it has been generated by Shopify. Shopify is an easy-to-use e-commerce platform that allows anyone to create an online website to sell their goods.

Many Shopify store owners want to remove powered by Shopify to keep their footer clean and not make it entirely obvious the store was created using Shopify. As the majority of dropshipping stores use Shopify, other store owners may not want their store being associated to this industry.

Removing the link gives store owners the liberty to create an authentic brand image for their store.

So how do I remove powered by Shopify from the footer of my store?

We discuss two methods of removing it below. The route you choose will depend on how comfortable you feel using Shopify.

#1 Removing powered by Shopify via Edit languages

  1. Navigate to your Shopify dashboard menu on the left-hand side of your store and select Online Store > Themes

  1. Select the Actions button to see a drop-down menu, then click Edit languages

  1. Using the Filter Translations box at the top of the page, search for ‘powered’. Find the Powered by Shopify box and add a single space. This will remove the faded text that was in the box

  1. You can repeat step 4 for the Powered by Shopify HTML This appears on your store’s ‘Opening Soon’ page if it is password protected
  2. Select Save at the top of the page

If you’ve followed these steps correctly, the powered by Shopify link and image should now be removed from your store’s footer.
