How to get paid qualified traffic to your store with Google PLA Ads

What? Send targeted traffic to your store’s products with Google Ads, specifically product listing ads. Product listing ads or “PLA” are visual based ads that serve on the Google Shopping Platform and across partners. Potential customers will see pictures of the products, not text ads.

Why? Shopping Ad Traffic is pre-qualified traffic meaning these are potential customers looking to purchase.

How can I get these ads?
In order to run Google Shopping PLA Ads, you need a Google Adwords Account, A Merchant account and a working product feed.
Step 1: Install the Shopify Google Shopping App

You can grab it from here: https://apps.shopify.com/google-shopping

Follow the on boarding wizard. You will need to also setup a Google Merchant account.

The merchant account is where Shopify sends your product data so Google can see it.

You will then use Google Ads to create Shopping Campaigns. The shopping campaigns will fetch the product data for the ads displayed to potential customers from the Google Merchant account.

Step 2: Create a Google Ads accounts

If you already have a Google Ad account, proceed to step 3.

You can add a Google Ads account from the Google Shopping app in Shopify.

If you already have a Google Ads account associated with the email address that you used to set up the Google Shopping app, then select it from the drop-down menu in the Google Ads account section.

If you don’t have a Google Ads account, then click Google Ads Account from the Google Shopping app in Shopify. After you’ve completed the setup and accepted the terms of service, your new Google Ads account connects to the Google Shopping app. When you create a Google Ads account by using the Google Shopping app in Shopify, you can qualify for a free Google Ads credit on the account.

Accept the Google Ads access request

If the email address that you used to set up the Google Shopping app is associated with an existing Google Ads account, then you’ll receive an access request confirmation email.

When you create your Google Ads account by using the Google Shopping app, you receive an email to accept your Google Ads account. You need to click accept invitation in the email to confirm your email address.

After you’ve accepted the invitation, it might take a few minutes for the access request to be processed.

Add your billing information to your Google Ads account

Make sure that your billing information is in your Google Ads account. For details on how to add your billing information, see Manage your payment methods in the Google Ads Help.

After you’ve added your billing information, confirm you have completed the task by clicking I’ve added billing details.

Step 3: Add billing to Google Ads and setup your Shopping PLA (Product Listing Ad) campaigns
